Mission Statement

Technology and the Internet have changed everything about the music industry. The way music is created, recorded, distributed, and sold in today's worldwide market place has  little similarity to the way things were. Many of the most talented and creative writers, musicians, audio engineers, and singers have chosen to bypass old style conventional methods.

They turn out cutting edge trend bending recordings without ever setting foot in a commercial studio. They blaze new trails using the Internet to make their musical creations directly available to the end consumer. Radio broadcasters and conventional music stores no longer make and break recording artists.

Internet buzz, sample downloads, email referrals, and social networking sites such as: MySpace, FaceBook, U-Tube, and dozens of other popular sites, spread the word about who is making great new music and where to find it.

These new technologies and the innovative ways creative people use them have largely left the old style of doing business in the dirt. However; music is much more than just technical know how and skillful application of good business sense. Music is an art. It is created by artistic people. It's not just about making the almighty dollar.

Creative people want to know the art they have created has the recognition, approval, respect, and appreciation of other creative and artistic people. They want other artistic people to say, "Great job!" They want to earn awards and "seals of approval."
They need these things to encourage them to continue down the road less traveled.
And, they need these things as promotional tools. They need to let the music consuming public know their art has earned the respect and approval of other creative music industry professionals.

We created The Internet Music Awards as a way to fulfill that need. Old style awards shows were based on outmoded methods such as sales through brick and mortar stores, old fashion distribution channels, and spins on corporate owned radio stations.
These out of date measuring devices don't apply to those trend bending recording artists who call the Internet home.

We have brought together an elite group of music industry professionals. Among them are promoters who promoted top selling recording artists such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Bryan McKnight and many others. We included a radio DJ,  professional recording studio owners, musicians, singers, songwriters, a song plugger, a music newsletter writer, web site owners, music publishers, television host, recording artists, karaoke KJ's, and other music related professionals.

A panel of music industry pros reviews and evaluates music being promoted and distributed through the Internet. They listen for creativity, talent, originality, and artistic merit. Every award must be based on a unanimous decision. If only one member of the awards panel vetoes it, the award is never approved.
